Mark Fennell studied graphic design and advertising at Amersham School of Art before commencing a career as an art director, working for advertising agencies in and around London and Birmingham.
A self taught painter, he started painting in 2001 and was elected member or The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in 2007. He has exhibited work with The Royal Society of Portrait Painters at the Mall galleries in London and exhibits regularly at the RBSA in Birmingham.
He works predominantly in oils, specialising in portrait and figurative work, commissions to date include Antony Worrall Thompson, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and musician John Otway.
Over the last year Mark is developing his skills as a plein air painter, painting landscapes outdoors from direct observation as well as learning how to draw and paint digitally on an ipad.
He will be exhibiting at the following exhibitions this summer –
Brill art on the hill exhibition from Saturday 26th – Sunday 27th April
The RBSA open portrait exhibition from July 17th – August 24th
Solo exhibition at The RBSA gallery from 29th July – 21st September
