Whatever the subject, my aim is to capture a scenario or private moment and distil that point-in-time forever in a picture. The majority of my work is fantastical in nature, as I particularly enjoy creating scenes and scenarios that take the subject away from the normality of daily life.
I am particularly drawn to film photography, especially alternative processes such as lith development and liquid emulsion which both provide a unique, one-off quality to the end result. Prints are produced by hand in the darkroom – usually on watercolour paper or high-end photographic stock. The result is an original and unique final photograph.Recent work has focused on still life and cherished possessions (with a particular penchant for cars). My most recent sessions, entitled ‘Powder and Paint’ provide real women with seductive cinematic shots, shot on location with a slightly film noir / femme fatale feel. Powder and Paint sessions include make-up and props, and have particularly appealed to women who delight in seeing themselves as they would love to be seen – individual, sensual and womanly.
