“Dancers In Movement”
Jane Waller is one of those people the British find difficult to categorise: someone who excels in a whole range of activities. After studying drawing, painting and sculpture she turned to ceramics, producing work described by the Arts Editor of the International Herald Tribune as “among the greatest creations of twentieth century pottery”.
Jane has been life-drawing all her career. However, about 15 years ago, she suddenly got tired of drawing a statically posed model and felt the urge to draw movement, stretch and twirl. At first, Jane drew in the Dance Rehearsal Studios in London, but has recently been privileged to draw ‘Dancers In Movement’ in a box at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden during dress rehearsals of the Royal Ballet.
Jane would like you to be able to walk past each drawing and catch a glimpse of the dancers movements.
Jane Waller’s work can be seen at Waddesdon Manor Plant Centre on 6th & 7th October 2012 and also at The Town Hall, Thame on 24th November 2012.
