RAF Pennant Flag

RAF Pennant Flag

This pennant  is the Group Captain in Command pennant of the last Commander Bastion Airfield (Commanding Officer 903 Expeditionary Air Wing), lowered on the night of 26 October 2014 and flown out at dawn 27 October 2014 by the Commander and the last eleven members of the Expeditionary Air Wing. The pennant flew above his Head Quarters (the Air Traffic Control Tower) from June 2014 until it was taken down.

Framed here in a deep black shadow box with a matching spacer, especially made to the triangular size of the flag.  Hand-sewn against a black background using existing holes in the material, no glues were used due to the fragility and the historical value of the piece.  Anti-reflective glass was used to help reduce any reflections and to keep the colours in the piece.
