Ann Winder-Boyle

Ann was born in Cumbria 1963. As a mature student she returned to study for a degree in Fine Art graduating with a First Class Honours degree in 2006.

Ann has participated in numerous exhibitions around the United Kingdom and Europe.  In 2009 she featured on BBC 2’s Culture Show and has been selected for the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition for four consecutive years

Ann creates a personal and intimate experience by collaging ink drawings, original book inscriptions and found ephemera into her work. They are richly layered and often incorporate complex and challenging scenes which are nostalgic yet sometimes edgy and playful.  She has established a reputation for creating work which challenges our expectations.  The use of old books and beeswax creates a visually nostalgic experience and the unpredictability of working with the beeswax in the final stages adds a sense of serendipity.

Ann lives in Buckinghamshire with her 2 Dachshunds, Poppy and Mika and her husband Mike.

Sally Timms

Sally started work in the 60’s as a Graphic Designer, and worked in the industry for some years. Firstly for a Packaging Company, and then for an Advertising Studio. She also worked freelance.

She has been painting for the last 30 years.  In 1989 she studied sculpture, completing the Higher Bucks Diploma, but then took up painting on silk, running workshops in her studio, and Missenden Abbey.

She was also a Demonstrator for the S.E.England for an Art Material Company. It was at this stage that she started  to use mixed media on silk to create texture, along with the pure silk dyes, and to work in an abstract way.

In the late 1990, Sally started to work solely in the abstract form.

Whatever the subject, my aim is to capture a scenario or private moment and distil that point-in-time forever in a picture.  The majority of my work is fantastical in nature, as I particularly enjoy creating scenes and scenarios that take the subject away from the normality of daily life.

I am particularly drawn to film photography, especially alternative processes such as lith development and liquid emulsion which both provide a unique, one-off quality to the end result.  Prints are produced by hand in the darkroom – usually on watercolour paper or high-end photographic stock.  The result is an original and unique final photograph.Recent work has focused on still life and cherished possessions (with a particular penchant for cars).  My most recent sessions, entitled ‘Powder and Paint’ provide real women with seductive cinematic shots, shot on location with a slightly film noir / femme fatale feel.  Powder and Paint sessions include make-up and props, and have particularly appealed to women who delight in seeing themselves as they would love to be seen – individual, sensual and womanly.

Bespoke framing exclusive: (standard processing)

Powder & paint sessions £150 (incl. 10×8 print)

Private car commission £125 (incl. 10×8 print)

*Alternative process photography (lith / liquid emulsion)  – prices on request

I have painted as long as I can remember but for a while studied sculpture at Wycombe Art College with George Mueller. I soon realised that I needed to be a painter, my first love and have continued to be fully committed and excited by any subject. A touch of light on a piece of furniture or fruit, a pot or the colour of a flower or the sky will take me off on a journey.  It’s a spontaneous feeling.  I go straight in with the paint with great energy to capture whatever set me off in the first place.

I use any medium at hand but my first love is oils.  I paint mostly around my house and studios but enjoy painting outdoors, capturing the mood of the changing landscape.  On these occasions I use acrylics or mixed media but will sometimes put oils over the top when I am back in my studio.

I find the hardest part of painting is talking about it.  It comes from such a deep place but I hope that my work speaks for me.

Jacquie Turner

biography

Over the years, I have been fortunate that much of my work has been able to be based on life experiences, including occasional adventures in Australia and the Far East, Canada, the States and Europe, although generally most of my creative time is spent near my home in the Chiltern Hills, walking the banks of the Thames or increasingly exploring the beautiful ‘Creekscapes’ of the south Cornish coast.

Our nautical exploits have always inspired my sailing paintings, but more typically subjects range from river scenes to local landscapes, combinations of fruit, flowers and random objects collected from local junk shops and jumble sales.  As my domestic menagerie has expanded, so to has my interest in painting the local livestock so you will now find the odd chicken and cow or even more exotic species amongst my work.

  • Testimonials

I am extremely satisfied with the quality of Alex's framing. I am an artist whose work is based on a series of pictures rather than individual pieces and therefore the continuity and perfection of the framing is essential. Alex's skill and professional advice removes any worries I have as to the final 'look' of the piece and I actually now enjoy the whole process of working with Alex to find the right frame which will enhance my artwork.
